In the latest data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on June 12, fuel ethanol production in the United States experienced a decline of nearly 5% during the week ending June 7. Production averaged 1.023 million barrels per day, marking a decrease of 49,000 barrels per day from the previous week’s reported production of 1.072 million barrels per day. However, compared to the same week last year, production saw a slight uptick of 5,000 barrels per day.
Concurrently, stocks of fuel ethanol showed an increase of nearly 1%, reaching 23.222 million barrels by the end of the week on June 7. This reflected a rise of 170,000 barrels from the previous week’s reported stocks of 23.052 million barrels. Comparatively, stocks for the same week of the previous year were notably higher by 996,000 barrels.
In terms of exports, the data indicated a rise of nearly 2%, with average daily exports of fuel ethanol amounting to 125,000 barrels during the week ending June 7. This marked an increase of 2,000 barrels per day from the previous week’s reported exports of 123,000 barrels per day. Similarly, exports for the same week of the previous year showed a noticeable increase of 49,000 barrels per day.
Notably, no imports of fuel ethanol were reported for the week ending June 7, underlining the United States’ export-oriented dynamic in this sector during the period analyzed.
