The Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) and the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) have publicly distanced themselves from the Association of Distributors and Transporters of Petroleum Products (ADITOP). This announcement comes ahead of a scheduled meeting of ADITOP’s Board of Trustees and Patrons in Abuja, which aims to address support for truck owners and the challenges faced by oil marketers.
In separate statements, leaders from both NARTO and IPMAN expressed concerns regarding ADITOP’s formation and its potential implications for the stability of the downstream oil sector. NARTO President, Alhaji Yusuf Lawal Othman, stated that ADITOP is an unfamiliar entity with no recognized role in the transportation of petroleum products.
Othman remarked, “We wish to put the federal government and all the relevant regulatory agencies in the oil industry on notice that ADITOP is not known to us. NARTO is the only registered association recognized for transporting petroleum products, and we maintain a strong working relationship with MOMAN, IPMAN, and DAPPMAN, who are transporters of their products.”
Similarly, IPMAN President Abubakar Maigandi warned against the intentions of those behind ADITOP. He emphasized, “We work harmoniously with other stakeholders and do not support any initiatives that might disrupt petroleum product distribution.”
