Gas Prices Drop Below $3 in Minnesota Ahead of Thanksgiving Travel

by Yuki

Minnesota drivers are catching a break at the pump as gas prices continue their downward trend, with the statewide average dipping below $3 per gallon just in time for peak Thanksgiving travel.

As of Sunday, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Minnesota stood at $2.86, according to GasBuddy and AAA, which monitor daily fuel costs. This marks a six-week streak of falling prices, reaching levels not seen in late November since 2020.

The price drop is especially noticeable compared to last year, with the statewide average now about 23 cents lower. In the Twin Cities metro area, prices hovered slightly higher, averaging $2.89 per gallon.

This decline comes as a welcome relief for Minnesotans preparing for one of the busiest travel periods of the year, offering some financial respite at the start of the holiday season.
