Ambuja Cements, part of the Adani Group, has entered into a strategic partnership with Coolbrook, a Finland-based technology and engineering company, to integrate zero-carbon heating technology into its cement manufacturing process. The collaboration, announced on Monday, is aimed at reducing the company’s carbon footprint and advancing its sustainability goals.
Ajay Kapur, CEO of Adani Group’s Cement Business, highlighted the significance of the partnership, stating, “This alliance with Coolbrook demonstrates our commitment to achieving Net Zero targets. It strengthens our position as a leader in sustainability within the industry. We are continuously exploring innovations that drive efficiency and decarbonisation throughout our cement manufacturing operations. By leveraging Adani Group’s green power generation capabilities, we aim to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, lower costs, and cut emissions, ultimately benefiting all our stakeholders.”
The partnership will see Ambuja Cements adopt Coolbrook’s RotoDynamic Heater (RDH) technology, which uses mechanical energy to generate high temperatures through green power at competitive rates. This technology will reduce the use of fossil fuels in the cement kiln pre-calciner, a crucial step in cement production. As a carbon-free process, RDH promises significant emissions reductions compared to traditional fuels.
Joonas Rauramo, CEO of Coolbrook, emphasized the importance of the collaboration, stating, “This partnership is a major milestone as we seek to revolutionize heavy industries with our electrification technology. Ambuja Cements’ strong sustainability commitment and leadership in renewable energy make them the perfect partner for us as we expand our impact and contribute to the global energy transition.”
The partnership underscores both companies’ dedication to operational excellence and their shared vision for a sustainable, low-carbon future.
