Since March 2024, petrol prices have remained unchanged in most parts of the country following a Rs 2 cut by the central government. Prior to that, fuel prices had been stable since May 2022 after the central and several state governments reduced fuel taxes. However, the Karnataka government recently increased petrol and diesel prices by Rs 3 per litre due to a hike in sales tax.

Fuel Prices in Karnataka
Following the recent tax hike, petrol prices in Karnataka have risen by Rs 3 per litre, bringing the price in Bengaluru to Rs 102.84, up from Rs 99.84. Diesel prices increased by Rs 3.02 per litre, now costing Rs 88.95, up from Rs 85.93. The sales tax on petrol has been increased from 25.92% to 29.84%, and on diesel from 14.3% to 18.4%.
