The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced its approval of an environmental permit application for the proposed Mobile Cement Concrete Batching and Asphalt Mixing Plant by the China Road and Bridge Corporation.
An advertisement in the Guyana Chronicle revealed that, following a comprehensive review, the EPA concluded that the project would not have a significant environmental impact. Consequently, it has been exempted from requiring an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
The EPA’s decision is based on several factors, including the necessity of the project to support the enhancement of the East Bank Demerara Road. The plant will be situated along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway, between Madewini and Kuru Kururu.
