Diesel Fuel Spill Prompts Road Closure in Toledo

by Yuki

A section of Alexis Road faced closure on Monday afternoon following a hazardous materials (HAZMAT) response triggered by a diesel fuel spill.

Toledo Fire and Rescue officials, present at the scene, reported the closure of an eastbound stretch of Alexis Road towards I-75, starting from Hagman Road. The incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. local time as crews initiated cleanup operations.

The spill originated from a garbage truck that sustained damage to its saddle tank while exiting a nearby landfill. According to TFRD officials, the tank puncture resulted in the leakage of diesel fuel onto the roadway.

Authorities assured that there are no immediate concerns regarding wildlife or waterways. Nonetheless, environmental services will conduct assessments to evaluate any potential impact on the area.
