Qingdao-based maritime technology firm Headway Technology Group announced on Thursday (4 July) that it has secured a contract to supply its methanol fuel supply systems (LFSS) for vessels operated by Fujian Guohang Ocean Shipping and Fratelli Cosulich.
The agreement covers the installation of methanol dual-fuel systems on four 89,000 DWT bulk carriers owned by Fujian Guohang Ocean Shipping, with an option for an additional six vessels. These carriers will feature MAN B&W 6S60ME-C10.5-LGIM-EGRBP engines and are scheduled for delivery between 2025 and 2026 from Wuhu Shipyard.
Headway’s scope of work includes providing comprehensive solutions encompassing bunkering and transfer systems, methanol fuel treatment units, nitrogen systems, and control and security systems. The company’s OceanGuard® methanol fuel supply system, known for its reliability and safety, will be integral to these vessels’ operations.
Additionally, Headway has entered into a cooperation agreement with Fratelli Cosulich, a Genoa-based shipping and logistics company, to supply a similar methanol fuel system for a new 7,990 DWT methanol dual-fuel tanker. This vessel, equipped with MAN 21/31DF-M generators, is set to commence operations in Singapore by the fourth quarter of 2025.
The OceanGuard® system, hailed as a mature domestic solution, has already proven its capability through successful applications with major low-speed engine brands. Headway assures that each module meets the rigorous performance and safety standards required for large marine dual-fuel engines.
