The 2024 Practical Nigerian Content (PNC) Forum is set to bring together key stakeholders from Nigeria’s oil and gas sector for a four-day event focused on advancing Nigerian content implementation, tackling industry challenges, and exploring new opportunities. Scheduled for December 2 to 5, 2024, at the Nigerian Content Tower in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, the forum is expected to attract over 750 delegates, including policymakers, regulators, and industry experts from across the globe.

Prominent speakers at the event will include Heineken Lokpobiri, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Dr. Omar Farouk Ibrahim, Secretary General of the African Petroleum Producers’ Organisation (APPO), Olusegun Olutayo, Senior Trade Policy and Law Expert at the Nigeria AfCFTA Coordination Office, and Mele Kolo Kyari, Group CEO of NNPC Limited.

One of the key highlights of the forum will be the unveiling of the new Contracting Cycle Guidelines by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB). The guidelines aim to foster greater investment and innovation within the country’s oil and gas sector.

The forum will feature 20 distinguished speakers across six high-level sessions, with contributions from notable figures such as Ekperikpe Ekpo, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Patience Ranami Abah, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment, and Felix Omatsola Ogbe, Executive Secretary of NCDMB. Gbenga Komolafe, the Commission Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), will also address delegates, along with senior executives from leading companies like Chevron Nigeria, TotalEnergies Nigeria, Nigeria LNG Limited, and the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN).

Wemimo Oyelana, Portfolio Director – Africa and Country Director – Nigeria at dmg Nigeria events, described the 2024 PNC Forum as arriving at a critical juncture for Nigeria’s energy sector. With transformative projects and significant investments underway, Oyelana noted that the forum provides an important platform to assess the progress of Nigerian content initiatives, tackle existing challenges, and formulate strategies for strengthening local capacity in the sector.

Oyelana emphasized that discussions at the event would center on key themes such as divestment opportunities, the role of decarbonisation, and the increasing importance of offshore operations. She also highlighted the Nigerian government’s commitment to improving the investment climate, noting that the introduction of the new Contracting Cycle Guidelines is an important step toward boosting efficiency and encouraging both local and international investment in the sector.

The forum is set to provide valuable insights into how stakeholders can collaborate to address the growing energy demands of the country, strengthen Nigerian content, and maximize the vast potential of Nigeria’s oil and gas resources.
