U.S. fuel ethanol production decreased by 5% during the week ending March 21, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) data released on March 26. However, ethanol stocks rose by 3%, and exports saw a significant increase of 48%.
Fuel ethanol production averaged 1.053 million barrels per day for the week, down by 52,000 barrels per day from the previous week’s average of 1.105 million barrels per day. Compared to the same week last year, production decreased by 1,000 barrels per day.
Ethanol stocks increased by 775,000 barrels, reaching 27.35 million barrels for the week ending March 21, compared to 26.575 million barrels the week before. Compared to the same week last year, stocks were up by 1.258 million barrels.
Exports of fuel ethanol averaged 164,000 barrels per day, up by 53,000 barrels per day from the previous week’s exports of 111,000 barrels per day. Exports also increased by 80,000 barrels per day compared to the same week last year. No fuel ethanol imports were reported for the week ending March 21.
