Mobil Oil New Guinea, a subsidiary of ExxonMobil, has launched a new bottom-loading facility at its Lae Terminal. This facility is part of a K40 million investment project aimed at improving the fuel supply across Papua New Guinea.
The new bottom-loading facility, now fully operational, is designed to meet the growing demand for fuel in Lae, the Highlands, and Madang provinces. This upgrade comes after a significant expansion at the Idubada Terminal in Port Moresby, where a new fuel tank was added in 2024.
The addition of the bottom-loading facility complements the existing top-loading system at Lae Terminal. Together, they speed up the loading process, reducing delivery times and increasing the efficiency of fuel distribution to customers.
Dinesh Sivasamboo, chairman and managing director of ExxonMobil PNG Limited, commented on the improvement, stating, “This upgrade significantly reduces truck loading times, allowing more trucks to be loaded each day. As a result, our customers benefit from better availability of high-quality fuel.”
He further emphasized Mobil Oil New Guinea’s long-standing commitment to improving services for customers in the country. “At our core, we are a PNG company with ExxonMobil’s global expertise. We continue to seek ways to strengthen our business and ensure fuel stability for Papua New Guinea,” Sivasamboo said.
For over a century, Mobil Oil New Guinea has been a trusted fuel supplier, with a network of terminals, retail stations, and wholesale customers across the country. The company remains committed to serving the people of Papua New Guinea for many more years to come.
