Iraq Signs Contract for New Offshore Crude Export Pipeline

by Yuki

Iraq’s Ministry of Oil announced on Sunday that the state-owned Basra Oil Company has signed a contract with Italy’s MICOPERI and Turkey’s ESTA to build the country’s third offshore crude export pipeline.

The new pipeline, designed to have a capacity of 2.4 million barrels per day (bpd), aims to enhance the flexibility and stability of Iraq’s oil exports through its southern ports. The pipeline will support export operations via the Basra Oil Terminal, Khor Al-Amaya Oil Terminal, and a floating Single Point Mooring (SPM) platform.

The project involves the installation of a 48-inch offshore pipeline stretching 61 kilometers at sea and 9 kilometers on land. It will also include the construction of two offshore platforms—one at Basra Oil Terminal and the other at Khor Al-Amaya—and the deployment of a floating SPM platform.

Details on the project’s cost and completion timeline have not been disclosed.
